Connie Parker, a devoted and out-spoken community leader, has a passion for helping others. But when she lay helpless in her backyard for more than eight hours after suffering a stroke, she was the one in need.
When her children found her, they took her to UPMC.
After months of intensive treatment and rehabilitation, Connie regained balance and relearned to walk and speak. Now she’s back to being a vibrant community leader.
At the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, physiatrists — doctors certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation — are involved in the treatment plan from the beginning.
“UPMC is a great place to go to get medical attention,” says Connie. “I thank them so much for all they have done.”
